BRUSSELS SPORT YOUTH LEADERS
Our youth committee is responsible for several social and societal projects. Its objective is to create bridges between young people and other actors within society, in order to reduce the gap and disconnection between them.
A place of exchange, listening, expression and debate, the 'BSYL' also has the mission of raising awareness and involving young people in the various objectives of sustainable development in order to build a society with young people and not for young people without involving them.
Education is a right for everyone with an immense power of change and transformation so let's give each young person the complementary and necessary tools to get there. Play 4 Peace offers academic support, spaces for studying as well as training, inspirational talks, etc. in order to best support young people in their development and give them back the desire to dream and believe in themselves. During the study time, students have 7/7 and 24/24 access to Play 4 Peace House.
BACK TO SPORT & BACK TO SCHOOL
Donation of school and sports equipment (and hygiene products in some cases during lockdowns) for less privileged young people, partner associations, children's hospitals, orphanages and refugee centers.
- In 2019 more than 100 young people benefited from sports equipment.
- In 2020 more than 300 young people benefited from it.
Without this support, many young people would not be able to participate in our sports activities which allow them to meet other young people, to get out of their neighborhood, ... Having a laptop or quality school equipment like the other young people in their school makes it possible for them to reduce their workload. It also reduces the dropping out of school rate and above all it restores confidence (the feeling of exclusion disappears or greatly diminishes).
- In 2018 around 50 young people benefited from school materials.
- In 2019 200 young people benefited from it.
- In 2020 400 young people benefited from it.
The 2 BACK 2 projects are managed by the young people of Play 4 Peace which makes it possible to make them responsible, to be in contact with and to listen to families and associations,… and especially to show them that young people (male and female) also are pieces of the solidarity puzzle. For Play 4 Peace, sharing is also a vector for inclusion in society.
Play Together is a new project born out of the desire to improve relations between young people and the police. Through various activities, we want to start a dialogue and deconstruct the preconceived ideas of each other and build projects together. Currently we are working with the police of the Brussels / Ixelles Zone and this with the support of the US Embassy in Brussels and our partner STARPAL in San Diego.
